Sony minidisks offer an excellent recording quality and an external microphone can usually be attached, meaning that they are suitable for recording groups and conferences, as well as interviews and dictation.

However, we are not able to transcribe directly from minidisks and it is time-consuming to load the files onto the PC and convert them into a format we can use. We would therefore suggest that if you are using minidisk to record your event you convert the files to the PC - most players come with information on how to do this. If this is not practical we are happy to do the file conversion for you, but there will be a surcharge of £5 per disk for downloading and converting the files.

We can still offer a per audio minute rate for minidisk transcription , based on the fact that a clear one-to-one interview will normally take in the region of four times the length of the audio to transcribe, with dictation taking slightly less time and groups taking longer.
